To improve the nutrition, health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations, including children under-five years of age and their caregivers by supporting relevant, high quality and effective nutrition and health interventions across Sudan.


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Support analysis of the nutrition & health programming context, needs and opportunities (10%) 

  • Regularly compile and share information on the nutrition and health situation in Sudan from various sources (e.g. UN, ministries, NGO reports, surveys, etc) and share with the Nutrition and Health Coordinator as appropriate 
  • Support the monitoring and updating of the AAH Nutrition and Health Strategy and annual workplan and initiatives, including further analysis in key technical areas 
  • Help identify potential funding and partnership opportunities to scale up nutrition and support the development of donor proposals, as needed 
  • Support the integration and mainstreaming of nutrition activities with other sectoral interventions, especially WASH, food security, livelihoods, and protection

Objective 2: Support effective Program Management / implementation of nutrition, health and build the capacity of AAH staff and partners in relevant areas (60%) 

  • Maintain an overview of the health and nutrition programme and of the country’s context, with a view to guiding assessments, strategically developing new projects in current s its and/ or surrounding or new locations 
  • Define appropriate policies, guidelines and protocols for the health and nutrition aspects of ACF work in the country. 
  • Provide technical support and oversight to the health and nutrition teams in all project sites, including the monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis of current projects 
  • Support project budget development, budget follow-up and budget forecast and implementation. 
  • Supervise and monitor the development of reporting systems for data collection, analysis and follow-up and feedback. 
  • Maintain an oversight of medicines and health and nutrition supplies ordered for the projects, supporting technical and logistics staff in the coordination and quality control of health and nutrition supplies. 
  • Contribute to the development of the ACF Nutrition Sudan strategy, and roll out strategy as required 
  • Contributing to the preparation of new project proposals (text, budget, BoQ and HR needs) in collaboration with other Nutrition PMs, other sectors’ PMs, Field Manager and Nutrition & health Head of department 
  • Ensure accurate and quality monthly reporting (External and Internal) and ensure programme reporting by local implementing partners 
  • Contribute to donor reporting (frequency according to the donor requirements) by compiling and writing of nutrition narrative on progress

Objective 3: Support coordination and representation (10%) 

  • To participate in coordination meetings with external stakeholders and nutrition and health sector working groups (Nutrition and Health sector) in collabo ration with the health and nutrition coordinator. 
  • Support development of Assessment protocols, implementation, and report of different surveys (SMART, SQUEAC, IYCF, KPC) in collaboration with HN coordinator and Nutrition Expert. 
  • To represent ACF for internal and external coordination at the capital level for issues related to Nutrition.

Objective 4: Support in reporting implementation plans, with highlight on challenges, best practices and lessons learned (20%)

  • Support the writing of donor reports/ updates in coordination 
  • Support in developing lesson briefs to document best practices and lessons learned

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

Training:

  • Degree in Public health/ Nurse/ Nutrition/Medicine and Masters in any health program with experience in Nutrition assessment and surveys.

Technical specific knowledge:

  • Public Health, nutrition, particularly promotion of infant and young child feeding, psychosocial support, social and behaviour change

Previous experience (years):

  • At least 5 years' work experience. 
  • Out of which at least 3-year experience in program management at senior level and 2 years’ experience in the field on direct supervision, monitoring of health and nutrition activities) and capacity building of staff, Experience in health and nutrition assessments and surveys

Humanitarian sector knowledge: 

  • Essential: Knowledge of the humanitarian sector and context update, especially on food and nutrition security.
  • Desirable: Experience in the NGO or volunteer sector, particularly working with refugees and vulnerable host community

Organization knowledge:

  • Desirable: Knowledge / experience in Action Against Hunger or similar NGO a plus

Languages: 

  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English 

IT systems: 

  • Essential: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) 

Desirable: 

  • Statistical analysis software, digital data gathering such as ODK/KOBO Mobility (national/ international)Frequent travel to programme bases and areas of intervention, including BN,WN,SK and CD

Our remuneration package:
  • Based in: Sudan – Port Sudan - The Capital office 
  • Position length: 1 year (renewable based on Evalution) 
  • Line manager: Finance Coordinator. 
  • Salary: 2400 USD (Gross) 
  • Annual Leave: 20 days/ year 
  • Emotional care service at the service of the employee and family.
