The MEAL Officer works closely with the MEAL Manager to enhance and mainstream the MEAL initiatives at mission level. Under the line management and oversight of the MEAL HoD, The MEAL Officer coordinates with the Port-Sudan program coordination team and base teams on common M&E platforms and learning initiatives. She/he leads the project team in setting up systems and mechanisms for monitoring the project’s indicators, deliverable and gathering community feedback. The MEAL Officer works closely with the program/project team to provide guidance in collecting, reporting, and analyzing monitoring data with the participation of communities, other relevant stakeholders engaged in the project. She/he is responsible for reporting on the status of the project’s performance indicators to AAH and institutional donors. The MEAL Officer will provide technical support to all assessments and surveys deemed to evaluate projects.
Training: University degree (BA in Social Sciences or any related field).
Working experience with local implementing partner and government health system is required.
Previous experience (years):At least two year of related previous professional experience.
Humanitarian sector knowledge: Demonstrated abilities in the design and implementation of MEAL systems. Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection approaches and tools. Capacity to facilitate work with community-level actors in planning, design, implementation of MEAL systems and processes. Demonstrable track record in effective team membership and communications at a management level. Demonstrated MEAL field experience and competencies in collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data to a variety of audiences. Ability to present findings and information to diverse audiences through presentations, training, mentoring, and other formal and non-formal methods.
Out of which at least 1 year involvement in organizing and facilitating of trainings and capacity building (courses/trainings on health & nutrition related topics).
Experience in conducting Health/ SMART nutrition survey specially is a plus.
