Under the supervision of the Nutrition and Health Head of Project (HoP), the Nutrition Field Supervisor will be contribute to the development of project workplans and priorities and oversee their day-to-day implementation to promote improved food security and nutrition among vulnerable community members, particularly pregnant women and children under-two and their careers.  The Supervisor will follow and support the  daily activities of the Nutrition Field Officers and will work in close relationship with the monitoring and evaluation supervisor, the monitoring and evaluation officers and other ACF field staff to ensure a good quality and effective project. The position requires extensive field work and movement in the South. S/He is expected to be resistant to stress, as s/he will be working in versatile environment.

Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Ensure timely and quality implementation of IYCF /Nutrition activities   (40%)

  • Support the Nutrition and Health Head of Project (HoP) in designing new activities and selecting areas of interventions 
  • Monitor the implementation of Nutrition program according to the program workplan and logical frameworks that meet the contractual agreements and the quality standards of Action Against Hunger
  • Ensure that the nutrition program consumable commodities and resources are well managed
  • Assist in a timely manner in the procurement and supply of essential commodities and needs for the nutrition staff  as per Action Against Hunger procedures.        
  • Ensure that all means of verification are properly collected 
  • Identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments. 
  • Participate in the definition of the activities and tools, based on field assessments and observations
  • Closely liaise with Primary Health Care (PHC) facility staff to ensure that coordination is completed and referral pathway is clear 
  • Development of IEC material as needed through close coordination with entire team

 

Objective 2: Team Supervision (30%)

  • Organize team meetings and capacity building training for nutrition field team in South
  • Support the HoP  in follow-up and evaluation staff technical  performance 
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback sessions, with adequate updates on progress against development plan and new objectives
  • Motivate the team to work as a team, in coordination with her/his line manager
  • Conduct field visits in regular bases to check the progress of work and monitor the counselling sessions 

 

Objective 3: Quality monitoring of the activities, needs analysis and adapting approaches, accountability (10%)

  • Ensure that the activities and approaches are consistent and relevant to reach programme objectives, and report to the line manager any deviation 
  • Maintain a beneficiary database/data collection with the line manager
  • Identify deviations and needs not covered and proposed adaptations to programme activities
  • Ensure proper quality monitoring of the interventions, including collaboration with MEAL Department 
  • Support the team in conducting counselling for the complicated cases to maintain good quality and results
  • Identify good practices and those that need improvement propose suggestions to adapt the program tools accordingly

 

Objective 4: Reporting and archiving (10%)

  • Submit weekly and monthly reports.
  • Participate to external reports when needed 
  • Ensure proper, accurate and timely archiving of all the means of verification of the project and other technical project documentation (soft and hard copies)
  • Ensure proper documentation of challenges, lessons learned and best practices

 

Objective 5 – Coordination and referral monitoring (10%)

  • Participate in external coordination (when needed) at the base level (including Health and Nutrition sub-national working Group in South and other working group meetings as requested).
  • Assist in the maintenance of regular liaison, collaboration and coordination with other actors at the field level. 
  • Support in the maintenance and functioning of a proper coordination and referral system with MoPH and organizations/entities working in the area (referral mechanism…)
  • Liaise with local authorities and local health system in order to ensure the ongoing and eventual development of the activities.
  • Support in assessing new health facilities in South and draft the report 
  • Ensure proper communication of the hotline and feedback mechanisms

 

Objective 6:  Security 

  • To respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols
  • To communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan

 

Objective 7: Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger

  • Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.
  • Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.
  • ACF employees will show commitment to human rights principles, gender equality and non-discrimination approach in all their work

 

Objective 8: Gender & Safeguarding (cross-cutting)

  • Promote safe and equitable environments, through knowledge and application of the protocol against harassment and gender policy.
  • Knowledge and compliance with safeguarding policy.
  • Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Training/ Education: BS in Nutrition, Public Health, or other related degree 
  • Previous experience: 2 years’ experience in humanitarian and Development organizations. Experience in nutrition programming (particularly promotion of infant and young child feeding) 
  • Personal requirements: Good team leadership, good listener, high communication skills, context analysis, flexibility and problem resolution
  • Languages: Arabic and English are compulsory
  • IT and specific systems: Good skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Power Point desirable)
  • Mobility (national/ international): National

Our remuneration package:
  • Salary Range: $1500 - $2000
