Action Against Hunger is recruiting in the Deir Al Balah a

                                                                                          Security Guard – Middle Area

For 06 months with the possibility to extend based on funds.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

ACF is scaling up its emergency response to the October 2023 War and needs to broaden its teams to ensure timely and effective distributions. For this purpose, ACF has leased an open land warehouse, primarily for hygiene and other relief items, and is looking to recruit guards to ensure the security of these items.

• Objective 1: Ensure security of premises (GH and office), (Warehouse) including relief items and others.
  • Be always vigilante – including, night shifts; Remain at post at all times.
  • Control access to the premises and prohibit non-authorized third parties from entering the premises and approach the stocked items, the GH or the office, avoiding risk of theft and looting.
  • Secure the in and out of the staff from the premises by checking the surroundings before going out, opening/closing the gate for the car if needed.
  • Inform the Head of Base about any security incident or concern pertaining to the GH, the office or the warehouse and the stocked materials.
  • Ensure expats/and residents of ACF premises are informed of any irregular/concern in the surrounding area of the premises (crowd, incident, etc.).
  • Ensure doors and security exits are always locked and are in proper conditions and functioning (daily checkup).
  • Make regular checks around the building to see if all security measures are in place like flag on the roof, bars on the windows are solid, etc.
  • Daily check about the remaining quantity in the water tank, inform the line manager in case of issue (leakage, malfunction) or low water stock.
  • Follow-up all non ACF staff visitors on a logbook entering the premises. ID should be checked, and their names should be registered.

• Objective 2: Support the smooth operation of ACF warehouse

  • Ensure items are raised off the ground, safely stack materials in warehouse, ensure proper access to materials, easy location of materials when needed for picking and stock taking, shelve and organize materials.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Maintain the premises clean and operational, including removal of garbage or packaging materials.
  • Store heavy or liquid items on bottom and light items on top-if needed.
  • If applicable, monitor temperatures and expiration dates for medical items or canned and dry food items. 
  • Complete the various dispatch documents.
  • Ensure safe preparation and loading of cargo into transportation vehicle and record the reports.
  • Report any problem with the quality of items.
  • Support with inventory reporting, as required.

• Objective 3: Support ACF emergency response in Deir Al Balah

  • If requested, support with distribution of relief items to ACF targeted population.
  • Submitting guarding shift-based daily report for all the premisses assigned.
  • Any other task assigned by the Logistics Officer or Head of Base.

• At least 2 years’ experience of working as a security guard required. However, experience with the following tasks will be appreciated:
  1. Inventory reporting.
  2. Reporting of quantities received, stored and dispatched.
• Knowledge in Word and Excel, telecommunication apps and tools.
• Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic. Knowledge of English is an asset. 
• Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency is needed.
