Under the supervision of the MEAL Manager, the MEAL Volunteer will contribute to the effective implementation of MEAL activities by supporting data collection, documentation, and community engagement efforts in the South. The volunteer will be responsible for responding to right holders' inquiries through various communication channels, conducting field and phone-based surveys, accurately recording data using standardized tools, and maintaining thorough documentation of feedback and complaints.
- Contribute to High-Quality Data Collection: Support the MEAL team in collecting accurate, timely, and relevant data through field and phone-based surveys using digital tools to inform program design, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Promote Accountability and Community Engagement: Engage effectively with right holders to address inquiries, gather feedback, and facilitate community participation in MEAL processes, ensuring transparency and responsiveness.
- Support Data Management and Learning: Assist in organizing, entering, and cleaning MEAL data, maintaining structured documentation, and contributing to internal reporting and reflection activities to support continuous learning and program improvement.
Objective 1: Support Accurate and Timely Data Collection (35%)
- Conduct field and phone-based surveys using tools such as KoboToolbox and ODK.
- Accurately record responses and submit data promptly.
- Assist in verifying beneficiary information and triangulating data.
- Report any discrepancies or challenges encountered during data collection to the MEAL team.
Objective 2: Enhance Community Engagement and Feedback (35%)
- Respond to right holders' inquiries via phone, in-person visits, or other communication channels.
- Facilitate the documentation and classification of feedback and complaints.
- Support community sessions aimed at capturing perceptions, suggestions, and grievances.
- Escalate unresolved or sensitive issues to the MEAL Officer or Manager.
Objective 3: Strengthen MEAL Documentation and Reporting (30%)
- Assist in data entry and preliminary data cleaning.
- Maintain organized records of surveys, complaints, and community feedback.
- Contribute to internal MEAL reporting and sharing of lessons learned.
Objective 4: Cross-Cutting Responsibility: Gender & Safeguarding
- Promote safe and equitable environments, through knowledge and application of the protocol against harassment and gender policy.
- Knowledge and compliance with safeguarding policy.
- Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work
- Gain hands-on experience in humanitarian MEAL systems and tools.
- Strengthening skills in digital data collection, feedback management, and reporting.
- Participate in daily debriefings and coordination meetings with MEAL and program staff.
Training/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Statistics, or related field
Technical Specific Knowledge
- Experience in conducting surveys, data collection, or community engagement
- Basic knowledge of data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar)
Previous Experience
- Field experience in assessments, data gathering, and professional interaction with right holders
Humanitarian Sector Knowledge
