the WASH Officer White Nile will contribute to the reduction of mortality and morbidity caused by poor water, sanitation and hygiene  


Key activities in your role will include

Objective1: Accountable for achieving objectives, delivering results and implementing all activities described in project documents.

  • To ensure the smooth running of the tasks according to the financial reporting and financing cycle of the project according to the rules and procedures.
  • Ensure planning and monitoring according to implementation guidelines and other procedures 
  • To ensure the follow-up of the subcontracted activities, as well as the quality of the work (supplies and services) and is a guarantee of their sustainability.
  • Ensure the follow-up and evaluation of actions and drafting of ad hoc activity reports.
  • Participate in monitoring the security context of the area and propose appropriate measures to ensure maximum security for his team.
  • Capitalize, synthesize and disseminate information in the following ways:
  • Compile project data, analyze and write activity-based capitalization reports.
  • Participate in AAH internal general meetings and external meetings (INGOs, governmental bodies and UN agencies).
  • To capitalize on the technical and training tools, as well as the experiences developed within the framework of the project. 
  • Day to day monitoring of activities with monthly, quarterly and midterm reports
  • Contribute to needs assessment and the drafting of new project proposals with budget.

Objective 2: Provide support for the development and implementation of AAH's strategy in the intervention zone.

  • Ensuring the identification and intervention strategy to cover areas and disciplines not yet covered by ongoing actions.
  • To monitor the humanitarian situation in the area and propose guidelines for action it deems necessary in the light of developments in the situation.

Objective 3: Ensure the good cohesion, information, training and organization of his/her team in order to achieve objectives and results.

  • Train and supervise local partner staff and community volunteers.
  • Develop the team's work schedule.
  • Provide technical and methodological support to the project team.
  • Ensure proper management and use of work equipment.
  • Comply with the specific security rules of the mission and base security plan, ensure that the personnel in their charge comply with the plan and carry out security management tasks that may be added to the protocols.

Objective 4: Ensure communication and complementarity with other stakeholders in the intervention area

  • Relay the organization's activities and objectives to communities and local partners.
  • Develop contacts and explain to local partners and the population the activities and objectives of the project.
  • Representing the organization to the beneficiaries/partners with the agreement of the direct manager;
  • To popularize all the actions and interventions carried out by the organization in the state;
  • Participate in any other task related to the project and activities of AAH in the state 
  • To defend the points of view developed by AAH-Sudan i.e. the basic principles of AAH Sudan and the positions developed during the progress of the programme, in consultation between himself/herself, the line manager and the rest of the team.
  • Actively participate in State level in the technical working groups WASH coordination and flood meetings and WASH relevant to policy forums.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • At least bachelor’s degree in public and environmental Health or relevant field; lengthy experience in role of Field Coordination or roles as Program Coordination
  • WASH Officer should have the capacity of teamwork, motivation, Organization Planning, Effective communication, result-focused, Problem-solving, Stress resistance, Adaptability, and Flexibility
  • Profound knowledge of cholera response, community mobilization, water quality monitoring, sanitation and hygiene promotion.
  • Strong knowledge of WASH technologies, including water treatment, sanitation, and hygiene promotion
  • Knowledge of DRM, Climate Change, Gender & Protection, MEAL 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in managing Programs and Operations in humanitarian projects /programs preferably with an international NGO
  • Work experience in partnership with LNGOs would be an asset.
  • Prior INGO experience required  
  • Fluent written and oral English and Arabic mandatory
  • Perfect mastery of Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Based in Kosti, with travel to 4 field bases as required

Our remuneration package:
  • Contract period: 12 months renewable base on Action Against Hunger fund and performances
  • Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions.
