The Deputy Nutrition Programme Manager supports the Nutrition Programme Manager and oversees the Head of Projects in the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of ACF Nutrition-related activities. The Deputy ensures operational continuity, supports team management, and contributes to strategic development and external coordination. This role acts as a key link between field operations and programme leadership, ensuring quality and accountability in all aspects of the nutrition program.

Position specific objectives and tasks

Objective 1: Support Programme Strategy and Implementation

 

Tasks

1

Assist in the development and adaptation of nutrition program strategies in line with AAH’s mission and Gaza context.

2

Contribute to needs assessments and data analysis to inform program design.

Support the integration of gender, protection, and environmental considerations into programming.

Collaborate with technical teams to ensure coherence between community planning, development, and nutrition interventions.

Objective 2: Operational Oversight and Project Cycle Management Support

 

Tasks

1

Support the implementation nutrition programmes via Project Cycle Management (PCM), including planning, execution, and closure phases, and assist in monitoring project budgets to ensure alignment with financial forecasts and donor compliance.

Monitor day-to-day implementation of nutrition activities, ensuring alignment with work plans and donor requirements.

3

Support the development of project tools, guidelines, and methodologies in line with ACF processes.

4

Assist in tracking project progress, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions.

5

Coordinate with MEAL and GIS teams to ensure proper data collection, analysis, and reporting.

6

Support the implementation of Project Cycle Management (PCM), including planning, execution, and closure phases, and assist in monitoring project budgets to ensure alignment with financial forecasts and donor compliance.

Objective 3: Team Management and Capacity Building

 

Tasks

1

Management and coaching of nutrition staff, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.

2

Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff.

3

Identify capacity gaps and organise technical training sessions.

4

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.

5

Supervise and coach field staff, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.

Objective 4: Coordination and Representation 

 

Tasks

1

Represent the nutrition programme in local coordination meetings when delegated.

Maintain relationships with local authorities, NGOs, and community stakeholders as delegated by the Programme Manager

3

Facilitate communication between field teams and programme leadership.

Contribute to advocacy and policy dialogue in coordination with the Programme Manager

Objective 5: Reporting and Documentation

 

Tasks

1

Contribute to internal and donor reporting by compiling field data and drafting inputs.

2

Accountable for ensuring proper archiving of project documents and beneficiary data in line with ACF and donor responsibilities.

3

Support the preparation of communication materials and success stories.

4

Assist in reviewing technical reports, assessments, and evaluations.

 


Do you meet the profile required criteria?

Solid knowledge of CMAM, BSFP, and IYCF-E protocols in emergency and recovery nutrition programming.

Experience in implementing Project Cycle Management and managing project budgets.

Ability to conduct and interpret nutrition assessments.

Strong skills in team supervision, coaching, and capacity building in field operations.


Education/Training:

  • University Education in Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition, Public health or similar.
  • Master’s degree in similar thematic areas an advantage. 

Technical specific knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) protocols, including management of Sever Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) cases in emergency and recovery settings.
  • Technical expertise in Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programming, including counselling techniques and breastfeeding support.
  • Familiarity with Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme (BSFP) implementation, micronutrient supplementation, and nutrition-sensitive approaches.
  • Ability to interpret nutrition assessments (e.g., Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) screening data, Standardised Monitoring and Assessment Relief Transitions (SMART) surveys) and apply findings to programme design.
  • Knowledge of maternal and child nutrition, including antenatal/postnatal nutrition needs and integration with health services.

Key competencies and personal attributes

  • Knowledge of implementing Project Cycle Management (PCM)
  • Reporting and writing skills for INGOs and donors.
  • Team Management – ability to manage, plan and follow up on team workload. 
  • Capacity building skills 

Previous experience (years):

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Nutrition or Medicine with an INGO, with minimum 2 years of the 5 in a senior position (above Officer level position).
  • Previous experience implementing PCM and managing budgets 
  • Previous experience of team management and development

Humanitarian sector knowledge:

 

  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and standards. 
  • Understanding of the humanitarian sector (Cluster, actors etc.).

Organisation knowledge:

Knowledge of ACF Nutrition Programming an advantage. 

Languages:

Fluent in Arabic and English 

IT systems:

 

  • Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel etc)
  • Data collection tools such as Kobo

Our remuneration package:
  • Contract Length: 6 months
  • Based in: Gaza Strip.
  • Salary: Based on Action Against Hunger salary scale.
  • Action Against Hunger provides food and transportation allowances for a fully worked month.
