Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organization working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting for its Middle office at Ramallah-Al Bireh.

Nutrition and Health Officer

For a period of 9 months.

General Objective:

The Nutrition and Health department aims to provide strategic leadership and technical support to optimize nutrition outcomes across Palestine in 2026. A primary focus is the consultative update and contextualization of the Maternal and Child Nutrition Protocol to reflect current global standards for malnutrition prevention and treatment. The department will further lead extensive stakeholder coordination and drive the rollout of malnutrition management programs through targeted capacity building and monitoring. Main Objectives include:

  • Coordinate with relevant actors and build ACF’s network to ensure a coherent response and avoid duplication of efforts.  
  • Participate in the implementing various nutrition and health activities 
  • Supporting needs assessments in coordination with the Head of Project and Nutrition & Health specialist where necessary. 
  • Work in team and adapt the service according to the priorities identified and changing in the period of implementation of the project, assuring that the interventions are conducted preserving the dignity of beneficiaries and following strong ethical principles and confidentiality.   
  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of training and awareness raising activities, as well as groups and individual sessions ensuring that the impact of team activities is met considering the cultural context for the most vulnerable communities.  

Key activities in your role will include

The main objective of this position is to support the N&H Specialist in tasks related to external engagement, 

coordination, design and planning of technical support activities in the West Bank.  

Objective 1: Coordination and communication 

Tasks:

  • Maintain regular communication with relevant stakeholders where needed (local authorities, community leaders, other NGOs, volunteers, subcontractors, etc.). 
  • Inform ACF Management about the positions of different actors in the field, that response capacities etc. to anticipate joint opportunities of joint response and to avoid duplication. 

Objective 2: Technical support and supervision?? 

Tasks:

  • Support by providing technical guidance in key processes, such as the revision of the nutrition protocol and the monitoring of the malnutrition treatment programs.  
  • Support in the design and delivery of training programs
  • Support in the analysis of the nutrition and health landscape in Palestine 
  • Support in organizing relevant stakeholder engagement events, such as workshops, meetings and roundtables
  • Contribute to the establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for nutrition projects, in collaboration with the MEAL & IM department..?
  • Monitor performance and accountability work to ensure programmes can demonstrate results and base future plans on evidence of positive outcomes at community level.? 
  • Prepare guidance documents and technical briefs for circulation internally and externally
  • Support in conducting other tasks as requested by direct supervisor or ACF management team.

Objective 3: Supporting the program management

  • Prepare supporting documents and the material needed for the distribution and produce field reports when possible
  • Assist in the development and preparation of activity plans and training modules for CMAM and IYCF.
  • Support the selection of geographical areas/IDP centers and target groups.
  • Propose solutions and improvements relating to project activities and how to improve distributions
  • Help conducting any M&E activity as required and document all activities led (pictures etc.)
  • Prepare regular Field and Activity reports, to inform progress, challenges and achievements for activities implemented.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, nursing, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in health, nutrition, or community-based programs.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working within the NGO sector.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of public health nutrition and general health principles.
  • Specialized expertise in Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices.
  • Strong individual and group counselling skills for behavioral change.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication abilities.
  • Advanced organizational, planning, and field observation skills.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Previous experience or knowledge in humanitarian, emergency, or development programming.
  • Demonstrated personal or professional commitment to gender equality.
