Protection & Field Engagement Officer
For a period of 12 months.
General Objective:
The overall responsibility for the Protection & Field Engagement Officer will be to ensure the safeguarding of vulnerable communities in the West Bank by leading protection initiatives, coordinating with stakeholders, and contributing to advocacy efforts and timely alerted about every protection incident occurring in the areas of intervention to document violations of international humanitarian law. This role directly impacts the lives of beneficiaries and ensures their voices are heard at both local and international levels.
Objective 1: Project identification and design
Tasks:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local communities under protection threats to ensure prompt reporting of protection incidents.
- Support the development and implementation of protection and MHPSS-related activities, ensuring a participatory and inclusive approach with community members and partners.
- Provide technical assistance to beneficiaries on legal matters and represent the organization in relevant forums.
- Actively report on protection incidents and contribute to advocacy campaigns, including the preparation and regular update of fact sheets and advocacy materials.
- Help prepare community protection work plans and Participate in the implementation of protection related activities.
- Facilitate introductory meetings to be held with the communities, village councils, local committees for protection related tasks.
- Represents the organization in protection forums & meetings.
- Reporting actively on different reporting channels (mails, WhatsApp groups, etc) and collecting feedback.
- Participate in data collection for monitoring of results and objectives indicators.
- Coordination with Communication and Advocacy team is preparing visibility plans and reports.
- Draft fact sheets and other informational materials for advocacy or operational purposes requested by the direct supervisor.
Objective 2: Project implementation and set up.
Tasks:
- Oversee the development of community protection profiles and monitor incidents of violence or threats against communities, ensuring timely response and coordination with partners.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports following demolitions, confiscations and settler attacks incidents.
- Follow-up on legal status cases for donor- funded structures, and offering legal advice to beneficiaries.
- Prepare protection related alerts in case of mass/ frequent incidents.
- Coordinate closely with WBPC partners and stakeholders to ensure a robust response to protection incidents.
- Coordinate with communication and advocacy officer for any advocacy related tasks.
- Participate in protection assessments, focus groups, and community meetings to identify protection needs and ensure the successful implementation of the project.
- Prepare all related documents following protection assessments to facilitate activity’s implementation/ distribution.
- Conduct regular/ urgent field visits to communities when needed.
- Provide Psychological First Aid to affected beneficiaries when needed.
Objective 3: External Relations.
Tasks:
- Communication with WBPC partners to follow up incidents and related Community Protection Approach-CPA duties. Prepare, coordinate and attend diplomatic visits, follow up alerts etc.
- Maintain and cultivate relations at technical level with local authorities, counterparts, beneficiaries and other external actors related to Action Against Hunger activities.
- Attend local meetings or project related community meetings.
Objective 4: Other Duties.
Tasks:
- Promote the application of Action Against Hunger feedback mechanisms during the implementation of the project.
- Driving within West Bank base and field sites
- Write minutes with conclusions, recommendations and action points of meetings and workshops.
- Participate in preparation of mid and final report to donors as requested by the direct supervisor.
- Translation when needed.
