Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organization working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting: 

Communication and Media Officer 

Primary duty station: Ramallah office or Hebron office, with expected travel to the other office as required. 

For an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

 POSITION GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The Communication and Media Officer will support the implementation of Action Against Hunger’s communication strategy across the oPt mission, with a primary focus on the West Bank. Reporting to the Head of Base and functionally to the Advocacy Coordinator, the role will involve developing advocacy and communication materials that contribute to programme objectives. The position requires close collaboration with internal departments, external stakeholders, and engagement with local and international media to enhance the visibility and impact of ACF’s work.


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Story Collection, Content Creation and Communication Production

Generate high-quality, human-centered communication and advocacy content that showcases Action Against Hunger’s impact in the West Bank, supports organizational visibility, and contributes to advocacy, fundraising, and strategic communication objectives. Ensure all content is ethically collected, accurately represented, and aligned with safeguarding and organizational standards.

  • Support the implementation of Action Against Hunger communication and advocacy strategies in coordination with the Head of Base (HoB) and Advocacy Coordinator.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Action Against Hunger’s programs, operational processes, and key internal stakeholders to support effective content production.
  • Coordinate regularly with field teams to identify and capture compelling stories from communities and project participants across the West Bank.
  • Collect, document, and organize photographs, videos, testimonials, and multimedia materials in line with ethical storytelling and safeguarding standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of communication and advocacy materials (factsheets, newsletters, social media posts, audiovisual content), including for project visibility, international days, and fundraising opportunities.
  • Maintain and manage the advocacy and communications filing system for the West Bank base, including consent forms, photos, testimonies, and multimedia archives.
  • Support the management of consultants engaged in communication and advocacy activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Community Engagement, Protection, and MEAL teams to ensure accurate representation of program outcomes and strengthen evidence-based storytelling.

             

Objective 2: Social Media, Digital Content and External Communication Management

 

Strengthen Action Against Hunger’s digital presence by producing, managing, and publishing engaging, accurate, and strategically aligned communication content across digital platforms, ensuring consistency with organizational branding and advocacy messaging.

Tasks:

  • Transform raw field content into high-quality communication products aligned with organizational messaging and branding standards
  • Support social media planning, including content design, development, scheduling, and impact tracking, in coordination with HQ and Middle East communication teams
  • Draft, edit, validate, and publish content across social media and digital platforms in coordination with relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure all published content is timely, accurate, audience-focused, and visually engaging
  • Coordinate with field teams, advocacy colleagues, and regional communication teams to ensure content consistency and alignment
  • Maintain organized communication archives and ensure accessibility of approved materials
  • Support the management and updating of communication repositories and digital platforms.
  • Ensure coherent contribution of West Bank communication activities to mission-wide and global Action Network Against Hunger communication initiatives.                                                   

Objective 3: Advocacy and Campaign Support

 

Support evidence-based advocacy and campaign initiatives by producing compelling communication materials that highlight humanitarian needs and Action Against Hunger’s interventions in the West Bank, while strengthening public engagement and influencing efforts.  

Tasks:

  • Monitor humanitarian, political, and operational developments relevant to Action Against Hunger’s work in the West Bank
  • Identify communication opportunities that support advocacy priorities and campaign objectives
  • Collaborate with Advocacy Coordinator and Operations teams to develop communication products supporting advocacy messaging and influence efforts
  • Produce stories, case studies, multimedia content, and advocacy materials that highlight needs and interventions in the West Bank
  • Support national, regional, and international advocacy campaigns through strategic storytelling and content dissemination
  • Provide support to the Advocacy Coordinator in developing media and advocacy content for strategic engagement
  • Ensure advocacy and communication deliverables are monitored and implemented within West Bank projects, in close collaboration with MEAL teams for evidence-based advocacy.  

Objective 4: Project Communications and Visibility Planning and Operational Support

 

Ensure the effective development, implementation, and monitoring of integrated communication and visibility activities across projects in the West Bank. This includes coordinating a master communication plan, ensuring donor compliance, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and aligning with organizational and mission-wide communication strategies. The role also supports coordination between program, MEAL, logistics, and communication teams, and contributes to reporting, planning, and decision-making.

  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of project communication and visibility plans in coordination with HoPs and PEMs.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, branding guidelines, and organizational standards.
  • Develop and maintain a master communication plan covering all West Bank communication activities.
  • Ensure alignment between project-level plans and mission-wide communication strategies.
  • Produce briefing notes, talking points, and communication materials to support donor visits, external meetings, and visibility events.
  • Maintain stakeholder databases and track communication activities, including reach and impact.
  • Support integration of communication into project planning and strengthen linkage between communication and operations.
  • Provide regular updates, weekly work plans, and quarterly reports to the Head of Base.
  • Participate in external meetings and field visits upon request of the HoB.
  • Coordinate with MEAL, logistics, and field teams to ensure coherent implementation and address operational or security-related issues.
  • Ensure proper representation and communication during donor and field visits.
  • Carry out additional duties as required by mission needs and context.


Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, Multimedia, Social Studies, International Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
  •  Minimum 3 years of professional experience in communications and media.
  •  At least 1 year of experience in humanitarian and/or development aid.
  • Experience working with international development agencies in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
  • Experience collaborating with Local Government Units (municipalities and village councils).
  •  Strong writing, editing, reporting, storytelling, research, and analytical skills.
  • Proven experience in filmmaking, photography, video production, and editing.
  •  Knowledge of information management and questionnaire design.
  • Experience in social media planning, content development, and monitoring.
  •  Strong project management skills (preferred).
  • Good understanding of humanitarian and development programming.
  •  Solid knowledge of the political and humanitarian context in the oPt.
  •  Excellent communication, presentation, training, interviewing, and capacity-building skills.
  •  Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex and challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or other video editing software; knowledge of InDesign or other design tools is an advantage.
  •  Valid driving license with proven driving skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
  •  Willingness and ability to travel throughout the West Bank and stay overnight when required.
  • The work duty station will be in West Bank office with regular travel to ACF Sub-bases in West Bank (Ramallah and Jenin or Hebron).
