The AAH Food Security and Livelihood programming aims to address the urgent and severe food insecurity crisis in Gaza resulting from the ongoing war. It provides essential food items to vulnerable individuals while also working towards enhancing the socio-economic status of the affected population. 

This includes FSL programs specifically tailored to support vulnerable communities through rapid emergency responses, cash-based interventions, rehabilitation of agricultural sector, and economic empowerment initiatives. 

The goal is to comprehensively address the immediate needs and long-term well-being of the impacted population.


Key activities in your role will include

The FSL Project Assistant supports the implementation of Food Security and Livelihood interventions in Gaza by assisting with field activities, project participants follow-up, monitoring, reporting, documentation, and coordination of daily operations. The role contributes to the effective delivery of agricultural, cash-based, and livelihood support activities while ensuring compliance with project standards, accountability commitments, and organizational procedures.

Objective 1: Implementation and Technical Follow-up of FSL Activities (40%)

  • Support the implementation and follow-up of agricultural and livelihood interventions in accordance with project objectives and technical guidelines.
  • Assist in tracking the distribution, receipt, and utilization of cash assistance, agricultural inputs, productive assets, and other project support, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  •   Conduct regular follow-up visits with project participants to assess progress, identify challenges, and report findings to project officer.
  •  Monitor the quality, condition, and timely delivery of agricultural inputs, equipment, and other materials provided through project interventions.
  • §  Support the delivery of training, awareness-raising and capacity-building activities for project participants, as required.
  •   According to their technical background, provide practical guidance and coaching to project participants involved in agricultural and/or income-generating activities.
  •  Ensure compliance with ACF safeguarding, protection and accountability principles throughout project implementation.

Objective 2: Operational Planning and Coordination (25%)

  • Support the planning and organisation of field activities, including the preparation and follow up of the monthly work plans to ensure effective task distribution and smooth implementation of field activities.
  • Coordinate with project participants, community representatives and relevant stakeholders to support effective implementation.
  • Document and report project participants feedback to support continuous improvement of project activities and service delivery. 
  •  Provide operational recommendations based on field observations and participant feedback to improve project implementation.

Objective 3: Team Supervision and Field Coordination (10%)

  •  Supervise FSL field workers when any, to ensure tasks are executed according to the approved work plan.
  •  Conduct regular meetings with the field team to review progress, discuss operational challenges and identify required support.
  •  Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the field team to ensure effective implementation activities.

Objective 4: Reporting, Documentation and Archiving (25%)

  • Contribute to weekly and monthly progress reports, including achievements,        challenges and lessons learnt.
  • Support the timely compilation and verification of project data, indicators and information.
  •   Archive all relevant documents to maintain accurate, complete and traceable record project record, include the online archiving system..

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Bachelor's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or another relevant field

  • Action Against Hunger is ideally seeking candidates with practical technical experience in either (or both) of the following areas. While not mandatory, such experience will be considered a strong asset during the selection process. 

    1/Economic Recovery and Livelihoods

    • Experience supporting livelihoods programmes, income generating activities (IGAs), micro-businesses, or self-employment initiatives is an asset.
    • Understanding of basic business management principles, including budgeting, record-keeping, pricing, marketing, and workforce management.
    • Knowledge of local market systems, value chains, and economic opportunities in Gaza is highly desirable.
  • AND/OR

    2/Agriculture

    • Experience in agricultural production systems and farming practices relevant to Gaza, including crop cultivation, greenhouse farming, irrigation, and agricultural input management, is an asset.
  • 3/Capacity Building

    For both, ability to provide practical training, coaching, and technical guidance to farmers, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable households.

    4/MPCA

    • Knowledge and experience with MPCA intervention is a valuable asset.
    • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting humanitarian agricultural and/or livelihoods 
    • Experience in cash assistance and community-based projects is a plus.
    • One year of experience in NGO sector is a plus. 
    • Experience as AAH daily worker is a plus
  • Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency and/or development programming is a asset.
  • Knowledge of protection mainstreaming principles applicable to humanitarian programme
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles, including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEA).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with farmers, entrepreneurs, project participants, and colleagues.
  • Ability to provide practical guidance, coaching, and training to individuals and groups.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple field activities simultaneously.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work independently in a challenging operational environment.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic
  • Good command of spoken and written English is considered an asset. 
  • Very good knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook 
  • Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.

Our remuneration package:
  • Contract Length:  - extendable pending funding and performance
  • Based in: Gaza Strip - Dier Al Balah
  • Salary: Based on Action Against Hunger salary scale.
  • Action Against Hunger provides food and transportation allowances for a fully worked month.
