In the context of AAH emergency response in the Gaza Strip, the main focus of this position will be: 

  • Secure humanitarian aid stored in AAH open-land warehouse, especially from theft, looting and damage.  
  • Support the logistics & store keeping efforts of the emergency teams.

Key activities in your role will include

Ensure security of premises (GH and officer), and relief items (warehouse):

  • Be always vigilante – including, night shifts; remain at post at all times. 
  • Control access to the premises and prohibit non-authorized third parties to enter the premises and approach the stocked items, the GH or the office, avoiding risk of theft and looting.
  • Secure the in and out of the staff from the premises with checking the surroundings before going out, opening/closing the gate for the car if needed.
  • Inform the Head of Base about any security incident or concern pertaining to the GH, the office or the warehouse and the stocked materials.
  • Ensure expats/and residents of AAH premises are informed of any irregular/concern in the surrounding area of the premises (crowd, incident, etc.)
  • Ensure doors and security exits are always locked and are in proper conditions and functioning (daily checkup)
  • Make regular checks around the building to see if all security measures are in place like flag on the roof, bars on the windows are solid, etc.
  • Daily check about the remaining quantity in the water tank, inform the line manager in case of issue (leakage, malfunction) or low water stock.
  • Follow-up all non AAH staff visitors on a logbook entering the premises. ID should be checked, and their names should be registered

Support the smooth operation of AAH warehouse

  • Ensure items are raised off the ground, safely stack materials in warehouse, ensure proper access to materials, easy location of materials when needed for picking and stock taking, shelve and organize materials.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Maintain the premises clean and operational, including removal of garbage or packaging materials.
  • Store heavy or liquid items on bottom and light items on top
  • If applicable, monitor temperatures and expiration dates for medical items or canned and dry food items
  • Complete the various dispatch documents
  • Ensure safe preparation and loading of cargo into transportation vehicle
  • Report any problem with the quality of items.
  • Support with inventory reporting, as required.

Support AAH emergency response in Gaza Strip

  • If requested, support with distribution of relief items to AAH targeted population.
  • Any other task assigned by the Logistics Officer or Head of Base

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • High school certificate. 
  • Knowledge of updating and completing warehouse records will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in inventory reporting & reporting of quantities received, stored and dispatched is an asset.
  • Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency is a plus.
  • Organization & planning and observation skills, results oriented and highly ethical.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic. Knowledge of English is an asset
  • Knowledge in Word and Excel.
  • Candidates from Deir Al Balah are preferred.

  • Salary: Based on Action Against Hunger Salary Scale.
