Ensure the setting up and follow up of the mission’s HR policy and coordinate its implementation in Damascus, Hassakeh, Hama and Aleppo in order to provide the best support to the programs in accordance with the Syrian legislation, HR policy and Action against Hunger staff development.


Key activities in your role will include
  • Ensures the mission implements comprehensive HR policies and procedures, and remains compliant with local labour laws and Action Against Hunger guidelines. Lead HR Projects at Mission level
  • Ensures HR administration is accurately maintained as per Action Against Hunger and local regulations, Personnel files, employment contracts and organisational charts are keep and updated in the HR management system (People ADS)
  • Lead the National Salary grid Review. Oversees the Payroll and Benefits Administration for the mission
  • Supports the mission’s recruitment of national and expatriate staff
  • Communicates HR matters both internally (within the mission) and externally (to Madrid HQ)

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Knowledge and experience in Human Resources mandatory. Confirmed knowledge in HR and management in humanitarian context. At least 5 years’ experience in similar position
  • Strategic vision and the ability to convey the vision to the rest of the team will also be key. The position requires someone with autonomy and the ability to lead/mobilize the rest of the staff in the strategic direction that the Mission is taking.
  • Orientation to resoults. Communication skills as a gateway to ensuring the smooth implementation of the new projects set out for this year.
  • Qualities such as sensibility, openness, positivity but also clearness, determination and being able to establish limits will help improve the team´s atmosphere and create new and fresh working dynamics.
  • English requiered. Arabic is a plus. Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint + People Management Software

  • Contract length: 6 months 
  • Base: Damascus (Syria)
  • Family duty station NO   
  • Compensation Package consisting of:   
    • Salary: From 50.000 euros euro/gross/year (depending on candidate experience) 
    • Benefits package estimated about 20.000 euros/ year paid directly by the organization that includes       
      • Insurance for the expatriate (health, life, repatriation, travel etc.)     
      •  Emotional care service at the service of the employee and family.
      • Travel for breaks 
      • Per Diem de 215 euros for each break (paid at mission level in local currency)            
      • Housing or similar acommodation
      • Return ticket to the mission
