  • The Country Representative (CR) is responsible for the day-to-day Operations, Implementation and in country representation of Action Against Hunger Syria mission. In coordination with the Regional Director, he/she will ensure the correct management of resources to achieve the strategic objectives. 
  • He/she will ensure following the global, regional and national strategy, maintaining quality and relevance of the carried-out actions, always under the organization’s mandate. 
  • The CR, through his/her leadership, will motivate the team, anticipating and managing possible conflicts and potential reputational and organizational risks. He/She will encourage innovative focus and will supervise the coordination team. Likewise, he/she will be defining the training strategy and professional development of his/her team.  
  • The CR is responsible for the security of his/her team, he/she will promote, encourage and supervise the implementation of the charter of principles of Action against Hunger, as well as its ethics code and anti-fraud politics. 
  • He/She will represent Action against Hunger in front of international organizations, other NGOs, private sector and whichever institution of interest such as national governmental interlocuters. 
  • The CR is in charge of ensuring the financial viability of the mission in coordination with HQ and ensuring efficient management of available resources of the Mission. He/She will directly manage the technical staff of the mission, ensuring programmatic quality in accordance with global standards. Likewise, he/she will be responsible for promoting technical innovative focus, nurturing and developing partnerships and fostering best practices and their replicability.  The CR is responsible for achieving the annual objectives of the mission. 

Key activities in your role will include
  • Objective 1: Oversee the day to day of mission implementation
  • Objective 2: Strengthen Quality of Programmes providing strategic guidance to program teams (at base and capital level), including the integration of cross cutting themes into ACF Lebanon’s programmatic portfolio with an emphasis on gender, protection and conflict sensitivity
  • Objective 3: Ensure adequate institutional relationships with external stakeholders (national), donors and key interlocuters in country
  • Objective 4: Security
  • Objective 5: Safeguarding

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Good experience in program development, donor rules and regulations, validation procedures, coordination of processes and donor liaison. Experience in Project Cycle Management and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Lessons Learned tools.. Training and capacity building experience. Team management, security incident management
  • Strong knowledge of ACF logistics systems and procedures required.
  • Previous experience in a similar position and/or in the humanitarian field of at least 7 years.
  • English: Compulsory working language. Excellent writing skills are required for this position. French desirable.  Arabic: Useful Spanish/French: An asset.

Our remuneration package:

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

  • Formal work contract: 3 months  (ad interim)
  • Base: Damascus
  • Salary: according to Action Against Hunger salary scale and to candidate’s previous experience.

This packaged includes:

  • Expatriate insurance (health, live, repatriation, travel, etc.)
  • Break flights/trips to defined area: (break per diem: 215 EUR)
  • Yearly holiday return flight ticket  
  • Accommodation and housing expenses (in shared guest house)
  • Travel costs to and from the mission.
  • 28 working days of paid leave per year
  • Emotional care service at the service of the employee and family.
