  • Supporting the planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition project activities. 
  • Ensuring quality, accountability, effectiveness, and timeliness of nutrition interventions. 
  • Strengthening community-based systems for the prevention, early detection, referral, and management of malnutrition. 
  • Supporting the establishment, facilitation, and strengthening of Mother Support Savings Groups (MSSGs) as sustainable community platforms for peer support, nutrition education, behavior change communication, financial literacy, savings promotion, and household resilience.
  • Supporting integration of nutrition with health, WASH, social protection, food security, and resilience programming. 
  • Ensuring meaningful participation of communities and local government stakeholders throughout project implementation. 
  • Contributing to knowledge management, advocacy, and evidence-based programming within the nutrition sector.

Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Project Management and Implementation

  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of Nutrition Project activities.
  • Develop detailed work plans and implementation schedules.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and outputs.
  • Monitor project performance against approved indicators and targets.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and Action Against Hunger Foundation Philippines Inc. standards.
  • Coordinate closely with technical coordinators and support departments.

Objective 2: Nutrition Program Delivery and Technical Quality

  • Support implementation of growth monitoring and promotion activities.
  • Facilitate nutrition screening using approved anthropometric methodologies.
  • Support identification, referral, and follow-up of acute malnutrition cases.
  • Strengthen community-based nutrition services through LGU coordination.
  • Facilitate IYCF counseling sessions.
  • Establish, organize, and strengthen Mother Support Savings Groups (MSSGs) as community platforms for peer support, financial literacy, savings promotion, nutrition education, and behavior change communication. 
  • Conduct community orientation and beneficiary mobilization for the formation of Mother Support Savings Groups (MSSGs). 
  • Facilitate the development and adoption of MSSG by-laws, membership criteria, governance structure, and operating procedures. 
  • Guide MSSGs in establishing savings targets, contribution schedules, loan policies (where applicable), and transparent financial management practices. 
  • Support the election and mentoring of MSSG officers to strengthen group governance and accountability. 
  • Link MSSGs with appropriate livelihood, financial inclusion, social protection, and local government support services to enhance long-term sustainability.
  • Facilitate regular MSSG meetings integrating discussions on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, maternal nutrition, hygiene, safe food preparation, household food budgeting, and child care practices.
  • Support the development of simple savings mechanisms, record-keeping, and group accountability systems within MSSGs.
  • Promote the use of savings and social support mechanisms to improve household nutrition, health-seeking behavior, and resilience to nutrition-related shocks.
  • Support nutrition education campaigns targeting pregnant and lactating women.
  • Facilitate complementary feeding demonstrations and healthy cooking sessions using affordable, locally available foods.
  • Promote exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding practices.
  • Support implementation of nutrition-sensitive food or cash assistance mechanisms when applicable.

Objective 3: Capacity Strengthening and Systems Development

  • Conduct training and mentoring for Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Health Workers, community volunteers, and Mother Support Savings Group leaders and members.
  • Build the capacity of MSSG leaders on group governance, leadership, financial management, bookkeeping, conflict resolution, meeting facilitation, and succession planning. 
  • Mentor MSSGs to progressively operate independently through regular coaching, supportive supervision, and performance monitoring. 
  • Promote networking and learning exchanges among MSSGs to facilitate peer learning, sharing of good practices, and continuous improvement. 
  • Support the registration or formal recognition of MSSGs with appropriate local government or community structures, where applicable.
  • Facilitate learning sessions on nutrition, maternal health, child feeding, financial literacy, and household resilience.
  • Strengthen the capacity of MSSGs to function as sustainable community support structures linked to local health and social protection services.
  • Support strengthening of nutrition referral systems.
  • Assist local government units in improving nutrition planning and monitoring.
  • Promote sustainability through local ownership and institutionalization of nutrition and MSSG interventions.

Objective 4: Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning

  • Implement project monitoring systems and data collection activities. 
  • Support nutrition assessments, baseline studies, and surveys. 
  • Analyze nutrition data and identify programmatic recommendations. 
  • Ensure quality data management and documentation. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, interim, and final project reports. 
  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices. 
  • Support donor reporting requirements and audits.
  • Monitor MSSG functionality using agreed performance indicators, including membership retention, meeting regularity, savings performance, governance, and utilization of savings for nutrition and household resilience. 
  • Document successful MSSG models, innovations, and lessons learned for replication and scale-up.

Objective 5: Representation and Coordination

  • Represent Action Against Hunger Foundation Philippines Inc. in nutrition-related meetings and technical working groups. 
  • Coordinate with City Nutrition Offices, Health Offices, DSWD, DOH, and other stakeholders. 
  • Maintain effective partnerships with local government units and community organizations. 
  • Support advocacy efforts related to maternal and child nutrition. 
  • Contribute to resource mobilization and future nutrition project development.

Objective 6: Grant, Budget and Resource Management

  • Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets. 
  • Support budget forecasting and financial monitoring. 
  • Coordinate procurement planning for nutrition supplies and project resources. 
  • Ensure efficient and accountable use of project resources. 
  • Support donor compliance and documentation requirements.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • University degree in one or more of the following:
    • Nutrition and Dietetics
    • Public Health
    • Community Nutrition
    • Medicine
    • Food Science
    • Health Sciences
    • Social Work
    • Development Studies
  • Master's degree or postgraduate training in Nutrition, Public Health, or related disciplines is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN). 
  • Experience in the establishment, facilitation, and strengthening of MSSGs, women’s groups, self-help groups, or community savings and peer-support mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling and promotion. 
  • Experience in Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM). 
  • Familiarity with anthropometric assessment, growth monitoring, and nutrition surveillance systems. 
  • Knowledge of Philippine nutrition policies, PPAN, and First 1,000 Days initiatives. 
  • Experience in nutrition behavior change communication. 
  • Experience in community organization and community development (CO/CD). 
  • Understanding of nutrition-sensitive programming, social protection, food security, and WASH integration. 
  • Project Cycle Management experience. 
  • Experience in budget management and activity planning. 
  • Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) experience.
  • Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible experience in:
    • Nutrition programming and sector in Metro Manila and informal settlements.
    • Public health and community livelihood savings projects
    • Humanitarian or development settings
    • Community health and nutrition services
  • Experience implementing nutrition interventions in humanitarian and development contexts. 
  • Experience working with INGOs, local NGOs, and government institutions. 
  • Familiarity with cluster coordination mechanisms and local nutrition governance structures. 
  • Experience in urban nutrition programming is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Filipino
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Experience with digital data collection systems and nutrition databases. 
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and MS Teams is an advantage.
  • Frequent field travel within project implementation areas.
  • Demonstrated commitment to child rights, gender equality, safeguarding, protection principles, inclusion, and accountability to affected populations.
