The Communications Officer supports the development and implementation of Action Against Hunger Syria’s communications strategy by producing impactful content, managing visibility initiatives, strengthening social media presence, and promoting organizational branding. The role contributes to increasing awareness of humanitarian needs, program achievements, and advocacy priorities while ensuring compliance with organizational communication standards and policies.
Objective 1: To develop and implement an annual communication plan
- Coordinate and develop a communication plan as part of the advocacy strategy based on programmes’ requirements and field’s needs,.
- Prepare and implement a social media calendar
- Update ACF Syria communication plan, social media guidelines, calendar and communication working plans and any other relevant document
- Share innovative communication ideas,
- Work closely with Advocacy team to make sure gender equality, the Nexus approach and Advocacy messages are integrated in AAH communication products
Objective 2: To produce communication material
- Identify stories and content in collaboration with Program teams that showcase needs in Syria and support ACF’s advocacy strategy and communications objectives.
- Travel with ACF teams or local partners to program areas to gather content.
- Collect visual content as well as written (testimonies and stories) from field locations.
- Create compelling communications products funding visual and written content from ACF activities.
- Train programme staff and partners in basic communications skills (story gathering, case studies, photography, videography, etc.) and in responsible use of social media.
- Design and coordinate with programmatic and MEAL colleagues the collection of content for communication products, such as Situation Reports, Programme fact sheets, Country Brochure, etc.,
- Support to produce information management products, such as infographics.
- Any other media and communications related duties as may be assigned by the line manager from time to time.
Objective 3: Expand Mission Communications Outputs and Visibility
- Act as a focal point for ACF Branding Requirements and policies related to consent
- Develop social media products and manage their dissemination in coordination with ACF Mission in the region at HQ.
- Mainstream the use of social media among AAH staff in compliance with corporative policies and social media guidelines.
- Oversee consultants and designers as required including managing timelines, budget, and contracts to ensure deliverables are fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Provide Arabic written translation per request.
Objective 4: Coordination and collaboration among communications stakeholders
- Proactively manage planning and logistics for communications projects.
- Collaborate with Mission staff, HQ focal points, and the wider Action Against Hunger global network to ensure Action Against Hunger Syria’s perspective is proactively reflected in communications opportunities.
- Contract period: till 31 December 2026 renewable depending on fund & performance.
- Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions.
- Duty station: Damascus.
