Action Against Hunger is recruiting for the Gaza strip a 

                                                                              Cash & Markets Assistant   

For 10 months with possibility of extension 

General Objective: 

 The FSL team manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including a community kitchen that currently serves over 2,000 meals daily, with plans to scale up to 6,000 meals. Our Cash and Markets team provides multipurpose cash assistance, helping families meet their immediate needs while reducing negative coping strategies that could otherwise divert resources from agricultural production. Our Business Support team works to enhance food production and processing by supporting income-generating activities (IGAs) and food processing units, as well as helping farmers who have had their agricultural assets destroyed. We collaborate closely with our Nutrition team to provide fresh food to pregnant and lactating women, as well as families facing severe malnutrition. 

 Under the supervision of the Cash & Markets and Information Management (IM) Cash & Markets/IM Officer, the Cash & Markets Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), cash for work pilot projects, promotion of digital payment solutions, and food security activities. The Assistant will focus on beneficiary follow-up, verifications, deduplication, monitoring redemption status, data collection, and any required follow-up actions to ensure effective program implementation. The role requires close collaboration with the Cash & Markets/IM Officer and the project team to support high-quality delivery of interventions in line with Action Against Hunger's standards and donor requirements. 


Key activities in your role will include
  • Objective 1: Support Implementation of Cash and Markets Activities: 
    • Beneficiary Follow-Up and Verification: 

    • Conduct regular follow-up with beneficiaries through phone calls and field visits to ensure participation and address any concerns. 

    • Assist in verifying beneficiary information and documentation for accuracy and completeness. 

    • Perform deduplication checks to prevent multiple registrations across programs. 

    • Redemption Status Monitoring: 

    • Regularly monitor and check the redemption status of beneficiaries in CVA programs. 

    • Identify and report any issues or delays in the redemption process to the Cash & Markets/IM Officer. 

    • Assist beneficiaries in resolving redemption-related problems. 

    • Field Support: 

    • Support the Cash & Markets/IM Officer in organizing and conducting field activities, including beneficiary sensitization and awareness sessions. 

    • Assist in coordinating with service providers, agents, and vendors to facilitate program activities. 

    • Ensure that tasks and actions are organized and delivered in line with team priorities and standards. 

    • Digital Payment Solutions Promotion: 

    • Assist in promoting the adoption of digital payment solutions like e-wallets and e-cash among beneficiaries and local vendors. 

    • Collaborate with agents and conduct awareness-raising activities to encourage the transition to digital platforms. 

    • Support the design and distribution of incentive programs and support materials (e.g., signage for vendors). 

    • Compliance and Quality Assurance: 

    • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments across the Cash and Markets program, ensuring high technical quality and synergy in project assignments. 

    • Use initiative in day-to-day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures and standards. 

    • Contribute to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming (SIP) Minimum Standards across all areas of work. 

  •  Objective 2: Data Collection and Information Management 

    • Data Collection and Entry: 

    • Collect data from beneficiaries and stakeholders as per program requirements and guidelines. 

    • Ensure accurate and timely entry of data into program databases and information management systems. 

    • Update and maintain records of all collected data. 

    • Data Quality and Analysis: 

    • Conduct regular quality checks on data to ensure accuracy and consistency. 

    • Report any discrepancies or data quality issues to the Cash & Markets/IM Officer. 

    • Assist with data analysis to support reporting, decision-making, and overall program performance monitoring. 

    • Information Management: 

    • Prepare specific visualization materials such as infographics, maps, summary documents, and tables as necessary. 

    • Ensure adherence to data protection standards and confidentiality protocols within Action Against Hunger. 

    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on data-sharing protocols. 

  •  Objective 3: Support Program Activities and Logistics 

    • Administrative Support: 

    • Assist in preparing necessary documents, including purchase requisitions, beneficiary lists, attendance sheets, and distribution plans. 

    • Support logistical arrangements for field activities, workshops, and training sessions. 

    • Program Support: 

    • Support program-related activities such as data collection, data analysis, and internal data reporting following provided guidelines. 

    • Participate in the planning and organization of program activities as assigned by the Cash & Markets/IM Officer. 

    • Communication with Stakeholders: 

    • Maintain regular communication with participants, service providers, agents, and contractors to support program operations. 

    • Provide information and respond to queries from beneficiaries regarding program activities. 

  •  Objective 4: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning 

    • Monitoring Support: 

    • Participate in monitoring activities, including post-distribution monitoring and beneficiary feedback collection. 

    • Assist the MEAL team in data collection for assessments, surveys, and evaluations. 

    • Reporting: 

    • Provide regular updates and reports on field activities to the Cash & Markets/IM Officer. 

    • Document any challenges encountered and suggest possible solutions. 

    • Learning and Improvement: 

    • Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices. 

    • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve program activities and processes. 

  •  Objective 5: Coordination and Communication 

    • Internal Coordination: 

    • Participate in internal coordination meetings as required. 

    • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective program implementation and information sharing. 

    • External Coordination: 

    • Participate in external coordination meetings when necessary to complete assigned tasks. 

    • Maintain regular information flow to partners and stakeholders as directed by the Cash & Markets/IM Officer. 

  •  Objective 6: Other Duties 

    • Additional Tasks: 

    • Perform any other tasks and activities assigned by the Cash & Markets/IM Officer or line manager within the scope of the position. 

    • Support the team in achieving overall program objectives and targets. 


Do you meet the profile required criteria?
    • University degree or diploma in Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Information Management, or another relevant field.  

    • Technical specific knowledge: Basic knowledge of CVA programs and digital payment solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

    • Ability to prepare visual materials such as infographics and summary documents. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good organizational and time management skills. 

    • Ability to use initiative in problem-solving.  

    • Previous experience (years): Minimum 1-2 years of experience in humanitarian or development programs, preferably in Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) or Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) interventions. Experience in data collection, data entry, and basic data analysis.

    •  Experience working with vulnerable communities in the Gaza Strip is an advantage.  

    • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Arabic and English. 

    • Office 365 Intermediate-Advanced Excel Data Visualisation (Power BI).  

    • Mobility (national/ international), National, Gaza (Gaza City, Middle Area or South).
